M-DOT Wins DARPA Award for Microturbine Development

2000 - Out of a field of more than 350 Small Business contractors, M-DOT alone wins DARPA's "Outstanding Performance by a Small Business Contractor" award.

 

2002 - M-DOT is selected for and successfully develops a warm-gas-driven fuel turbopump for Boeing's DARPA/ONR HyFly Hypersonic Missile.

2003 - M-DOT Successfully Operates the World's Smallest Gas Turbine Engine with a shaft speed of over 400,000 rpm.

2008 - Fuel-Lubricated Bearings are demonstrated to 294,000 rpm for operation in a tiny turbocharger for UAV heavy-fuel engines.

We Offer Both Engineering and Manufacturing

Engineering Design and Development

We operate a full-service engineering facility with expertise in gas turbine design, high-speed rotordynamics, burner design, compressor design and the design of complete turbopumps systems.

  We have designed and developed two twin-spool turboprop engines for the Army and have developed two hypersonic ramjet turbopumps for DARPA (as a subcontractor to Boeing) and directly for the Navy Naval Air Warfare Center.

Other successful projects include a 118 lb. thrust pulsejet engine for the Army AMRDEC that featured electronic fuel injection timed to the combustion cycle, a thrust reverser for a small expendable turbojet engine, a thrust augmentation system for an expendable turbojet that featured an afterburner and water-methanol injection system that demonstrated a 155 percent augmentation ratio.

We have developed complete gas turbine test systems for two universities. One system featured high-speed servo control of fuel, compressor bleed and turbine exit area.

Other successful projects include the design, test and FAA certification of an aircraft start-current limiter system and an aircraft APU silencer system. We have complete familiarity with System qualification and certification including 150-hour type tests for gas turbines.

Manufacturing

OUr modern manufacturing facility features latest HAAS CNC turning centers and milling centers. IN our sheet metal shop we can compound form stainless steel and inconel and have developed a hot titanium forming process that complys with Gulfstream and Boeing specifications. We support our manufacturing customers with design assistance and subassembly of critical airframe elements.

Our ISO9001:2000 Quality assurance compliance assures customers that we will deliver the product they order with full tracability of material, components and in-house processing.

Testing

We can test your engine or pump system with full tracability of standards and processes. We can also assist in the design of test systems.
